Build Your Own Taco Board

Make It Yourself

Are you a Taco fan?  Have you seen all the food themed boards popping up everywhere?  These are not new concepts but it has been fun creating more of them to share with you all.  Today I am breaking down how to make this Build Your Own Taco board! Taco Tuesdays are still a thing…..I think.

Tacos

My family pretty much love all the taco options so to keep it simpler for this board I chose to use hard taco shells and tortilla chips.

Meat

I cooked up a large batch of ground beef from Costco and added in Taco seasoning.  I keep a large bottle of it in my pantry that I also purchased from Costco.  I find it easier since I don’t have to remember to buy the individual Taco seasoning packets and making my own mix was not the same.

The Sides

Let’s get to the fun part….. Quesadillas, Layered bean dip, Salsa, Guacamole, and a few toppings.  Build your own Taco board was such a hit at my house my family has already requested another for next week!  Now, the secret to a really good 5 layered bean dip is making a taco dip.

What I used:

Jalapeno Refried Beans

Guacamole

Taco Dip or Sour Cream

Cheese

Toppings:  onions, jalapeños, black olives, green onion.

Taco Dip

What You’ll Need:

1 c Sour Cream

8 oz Cream Cheese

3 tbsp Taco seasoning

Take out your cream cheese to soften or get to room temp.  This will make it easier to mix together or you can use your mixer.  Combine these 3 ingredients into a bowl and mix together well.

Salsa

Store bought or homemade.

How I make mine:

4 tomatoes, diced.

1 clove garlic, minced

2 jalapeños, diced (seeds removed)

3 tbsp lemon juice (lime juice preferred but I did not have)

1 tsp dried cilantro (fresh is better but I did not have)

1/2 tsp salt

1/4 tsp pepper

Combine all in a bowl and set aside while you are cooking the meat.  The longer it sits the better it tastes because all the flavors blend together!

Guacamole

Store bought or homemade.

How I make mine:

I don’t measure but I used 3 avocados, lemon juice, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder.  Mash it all up and adjust to taste preference.
