Becoming a mom is something many women dream to become. It is one of the most beautiful and transformative experiences one can have. Your body changes, your priorities shift, and suddenly, you’re responsible for this new life, day in and day out. But just as the caterpillar morphs into a butterfly, you evolve as well. It’s okay if you’ve been feeling a bit lost amidst the diaper changes, midnight feedings, and endless laundry. Remember: beneath the “mom” title, you’re still you, and it’s time to embrace all facets of your identity.  Let’s talk about real life motherhood and unfolding some layers.

Passions And Hobbies

Let’s travel back in time. Before the all-nighters and the infinite episodes of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, you had passions and hobbies that made your heart sing. Maybe it was strumming the guitar, or crafting portraits of places you’ve been, or salsa dancing on Friday nights; those activities defined a piece of you. Rekindling those pastimes isn’t just about nostalgia or trying to be the old you again; it’s about grounding yourself in the essence of what brings you joy outside motherhood. Start with little steps – perhaps you can dedicate a short window every weekend to revisit and relish these activities or explore new passions or hobbies that fit into this new creation of you.

Building Your Mama Tribe

The saying goes, “It takes a village to raise a child,” but sometimes, it takes a village to uplift a mother too. Try connecting with other moms to provide a mirror to your own experiences and emotions. There’s no one better to help you through what you’re going through than a fellow mom who has recently made a couple of changes to be a better her. These shared experiences and stories will remind you that you’re not alone in your journey. And often, within these stories from other moms lie answers or solutions to challenges you might be facing yourself.

The Importance of Self Care

We all know that taking care of ourselves is important, but shifting the focus from the little human who needs you to survive to yourself can be challenging. Beyond the late-night face masks and bubble baths at home, it might be time to do a little something extra for yourself. Maybe something that will help you to refresh your facial look or something that will ignite the fire within your soul; self-care looks different for everyone and shouldn’t be something you can only do once the kids are in bed. You need to prioritize time for yourself; get a babysitter or leave the kids with Dad, and go out and do something just for you without feeling guilty! The point is to make YOU a priority.

Cherish all the Chapters Of Your Life

Your life is a novel filled with intriguing chapters, each one contributing to the person you are today. It’s vital to look back and honor every phase and every achievement, big or small. When looking back at these moments, you shouldn’t be left feeling that you miss that person; you should admire who you once were and acknowledge who you now are. These reminders of who you once were serve as anchors, emphasizing that you’re not just defined by motherhood, but by a culmination of beautiful, varied experiences.

While motherhood has its challenges real life motherhood has many layers and that is what makes you the extraordinary Mama you are today!
